Homeopathy in Pregnancy
Homeopathy has long been known to bring relief to many of the common ailments of pregnancy.
In general it is always a good idea to consult a Registered Homeopath who can identify the best constitutional medicine for you. This has the benefit of helping improve your overall health and vitality, especially if you are feeling low in energy or have any existing health complaints.
You can also gain a good deal of benefit by treating yourself for some of the minor discomforts of pregnancy, just as long as your complaints are not of a chronic or serious nature. All you need is a supply of the most commonly used remedies or a specially designed Kit from one of the
Homeopathic Pharmacies
When you are selecting a remedy, notice what makes you in general, or any of your symptoms in particular, seem better or worse. This is really important and will help point the way to the right remedy.
For example, here are just a few of the many remedies that can be helpful in treating morning sickness. Notice how each remedy has particular characteristics to help you recognize it’s value.
Morning Sickness
This is a very common complaint in early pregnancy, especially in the first three months. It’s called morning sickness because for many women the feelings of nausea are noticeably worse in the mornings and on an empty stomach, but everyone is different and for some women the nausea and vomiting in the early stages of pregnancy can be intense and may last all day.
The remedy Colchicum is often indicated when the smell of food intensifies sickness whereas the remedy Cocculus is more likely to be indicated if movement makes you feel worse.
Pulsatilla is another invaluable remedy in pregnancy and can often be of help when feelings of nausea are worse in the late afternoon and evening, or after eating, especially when the taste of food seems to linger for a long time after eating.
For women needing Nux Vomica on the other hand, feelings of nausea are often worse in the mornings as well as after eating and the area around the stomach may feel very sensitive to pressure. This remedy often works well alternated with Ipeca, especially if the nausea is severe.
Perhaps the best know remedy of all though is Ipecacuanha or Ipecac. This remedy can help bring relief for more intense feeling of nausea which are worse for lying down and not relived by actually being sick.
Whatever your symptoms, if you don’t find relief within a few doses of the remedy that you choose for yourself then the best advice is to contact your Homeopath who can prescribe more accurately for you.
If Homeopathy isn’t readily available in your area, then I would be happy to answer any general questions you have by telephone, however I cannot prescribe for you unless you are a registered patient.
