How to join a Tele-Seminar the quick and easy way

A Tele-Seminar or Teleclass is just like a conventional class, course or seminar, but it is held over a teleconference line. This means that you can listen and join in from the comfort of your office or home. It is more efficient than attending an ordinary seminar because you do not have to spend any time and money traveling; all you need to do is dial in at the appointed time.

You don’t need any special equipment to attend the class, just dial in on the number you are given from your normal telephone and key in your personal PIN code which you'll be given when you register.

To gain full benefit from a Tele-Seminar though you will also need an email address to be able to receive the class notes which are sent out in PDF format following the class.

Advantages of Tele Classes

  • You only pay for the cost of the call (Usually about £1.50) together with a low cost registration fee.
  • Many classes are free to attend
  • There is no need to travel to the seminar, so you avoid driving and parking costs.
  • You can learn from the comfort of your own home
  • Online booking and payment is fast easy and secure.

    Call charges

Call charges can be a concern to people who are new to Tele Classes. I usually use a US bridge number because it is much cheaper than the comparable UK services and very reliable.

You are charged whatever rate your phone provider charges for overseas calls to the USA and I suggest you check your call charges with your phone company before registering for the class. Alternatively many people prefer to simple buy an international call card (minimum purchase is usually £5) which will last for at least two 55 minute classes.

For example the card I currently use is the ‘Post Office UK and International phone card with a call rate to the USA of just 2.5p/ minute which makes your total call costs just £1.50 for the class.

IMPORTANT information for phone card users.

If you purchase a phone card please make sure it doesn’t ask you to use a single # symbol to start a new call. This is because you will need to press the # key on your telephone after your PIN code to gain access to the class. This is simple to check before purchasing the card. The post office phone card may not be the cheapest available but it is easy to get hold of and works very well.

    Telephone etiquette

    1. Please call from a regular landline. Avoid using speaker phones or mobiles as these can cause loud noise interference which is annoying and disruptive to other class members.

    2. To dial the USA from the UK prefix the bridge number with 001. If a UK bridge line is being used prefix the number with +44

    3. At the time of the class call the bridge number that you have been given. Then enter your participant PIN code followed by the # key on your telephone. This is the only time you should use this number as no one is there to answer except during the scheduled class time.

    4. When you join the class please introduce yourself as soon as the class leader asks if anyone else has joined the call. Something like “Hi this is Susan from London” will be fine.

    5. During the call please remember to say your name before speaking or answering. It helps bring the class together. For example “This is Angela, I’d like to say something about that” or whatever.

    6. Teleclasses are usually discussion based, which means that following a period of explanation or review of key points everyone is invited to contribute with questions and comments. All contributions are warmly welcomed but if you would prefer to just sit back and listen that’s OK as well.

    7. The last five minutes of the class are usually kept for last minute questions and comments but it’s essential that all classes end promptly so that the next class can begin on time. If you didn’t have time to ask your question or make your comment then please email me straight away on as I usually spend the first half hour immediately after the class on line answering questions or sending out class notes and this is a good time to contact me.

    8. Many Tele-Seminars come with an accompanying e-book or handouts which will be emailed to you via a PDF document immediately before or after the class. Some classes also come with an optional free 20 minute one to one telephone session with me in the few days following the class (Call charges are at your expense) These sessions prove to be extremely popular, so please book early to ensure your preferred call time.

    9. Finally, come prepared to enjoy yourself. These Tele-Seminar are intensive but fun and you will get to spend an hour in good company of like minded friends

    last but not least . . .
